At Ignition, we're proud to have supported Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives in a number of different ways over the years. This year, we're continuing to do so through the STEM Racing season by:
- Sponsoring Silverstone UTC's student-led team, Silverstone Revolution Racing, as they step into the Professional Division.
- Contributing to the programme directly, with Hayley Turner Client Services and Operations Manager at Ignition, who will be judging at this year's Primary and Secondary School Regional competitions.
Supporting STEM in this way allows us to not only give back to the local community but also celebrate the excitement around STEM and motorsport. For us, it's about inspiring students, encouraging curiosity and being part of something that matters beyond the track.
STEM at Ignition
Marketing in this world requires more than creativity, it requires technical understanding, and that’s what makes Ignition different. Our team possesses a variety of real engineering and motorsport experience. From Allen, a former WRC Rally Engineer and ex-Aston Martin Racing GT4 Development and Test Engineer, now heading up our specialist technical, high-performance, niche vehicle programmes. To Kirsty who has a NVQ level 2 and 3 in Motor Vehicle Technology and competed as a driver in the British Drift Championship. During her time in the championship, Kirsty competed and participated in demos at tracks such as Nürburgring 24h and Hockenheimring, to name a few. Through to Charles, who recently completed his bachelor’s degree in Motorsport Engineering and spent four years designing and building aerodynamic packages for Formula Student cars.
Having this depth of experience within the team allows us to connect naturally with engineers and motorsport teams, delivering campaigns that resonate with genuine technical credibility.
Silverstone Revolution Racing and STEM Racing
Silverstone Revolution Racing is a student-led STEM Racing team at Silverstone UTC. Last season, they achieved second place at the West Midlands Regionals, seventh at the UK Nationals, and Best Pit Display. This year, they step up to the STEM Racing Professional Division, with global ambitions. We’re really looking forward to seeing how the team perform this season.
Hayley’s role as a regional judge supports students as they showcase their engineering and design skills, receive feedback, and celebrate innovation at an early stage. For Ignition, it’s another opportunity to give back, encourage curiosity, and support the next generation of motorsport engineers.
“Being a STEM Racing judge is incredibly rewarding. I started volunteering in 2025, judging the presentation element at the UK National Final, which gave me real insight into the work and dedication the teams put in. In a previous role, I supported Girls on Track UK. Speaking to students about their ideas, confidence, and career aspirations is always a highlight, their ambition and creativity are genuinely inspiring.” Hayley Turner.
